COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 13, 2022) – The U.S. Girls’s Nationwide Staff continues its 2022 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) odyssey this week with 4 matches in Quezon Metropolis, Philippines.
Though the Philippines doesn’t have a staff competing in VNL, the game may be very in style there.
The U.S. Girls are the three-time defending VNL champions and ranked No. 1 on the earth. In spherical 2, they may face No. 18 Bulgaria, No. 10 Poland, No. 3 China and No. 14 Thailand. The U.S. Girls are in third place within the total VNL standings behind Japan (4-0) and China (3-1).
Japan was the one staff to beat the U.S. Girls within the first spherical. The US has overwhelmed Dominican Republic, Canada and Brazil.
“We’re wanting ahead to some extra nice opponents within the Philippines,” U.S. Head Coach Karch Kiraly stated. “Each a type of is an opportunity for us to study and get higher.”
The U.S. Girls’s roster that Kiraly and his workers have chosen for the Philippines leg is completely different from the one which went 3-1 within the first leg in Shreveport, La.
There are 5 2020 Olympians on the roster. That quantity doesn’t embrace opposites Annie Drews or Jordan Thompson, who each competed in Shreveport.
Setter Micha Hancock, libero Justine Wong-Orantes, exterior hitter Kelsey Robinson and center blockers Chiaka Ogbogu and Haleigh Washington are the 2020 gold medalists on the roster.
Setter Lauren Carlini, libero Morgan Hentz, center Anna Stevenson and outdoors hitters Ali Frantti and Madi Kingdon Rishel are the gamers getting back from the roster that competed in Shreveport.
Gamers becoming a member of the roster for the Philippines are opposites Danielle Cuttino and Nia Reed, exterior hitter Kathryn Plummer and center Hannah Tapp.
