LONDON: Former world champion boxer Amir Khan has revealed he was robbed at gunpoint in London on Monday.
Khan, 35, mentioned he and his spouse Faryal had been secure after the incident, wherein he had a watch stolen after being confronted by two males with a gun.
“Simply had my watch taken off me at gun level in East London, Leyton,” the British fighter tweeted.
“I crossed the street with Faryal, fortunately she was a number of steps behind me. Two males ran to me, he requested for my watch whist having a gun pointed in my face. The principle factor is we’re each secure.”
An announcement from the Metropolitan Police mentioned: “Police had been referred to as at 21:15 on Monday, April 18 to Excessive Street, Leyton.
“A person aged in his 30s is alleged to have been approached by two males who threatened him with a firearm earlier than stealing his watch and fleeing. There have been no studies of any pictures fired or any accidents.
“Police responded and carried out an space search. At this very early stage there have been no arrests. An investigation has begun and police are following numerous enquiries.”
Khan, the previous WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion, was overwhelmed by fellow Briton Kell Brook in a sixth-round stoppage in Manchester in February.
