Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada is extending the army mission in Latvia as a part of a continued NATO effort to stave off additional Russian aggression following its invasion of Ukraine two weeks in the past.
The operation helps NATO army deployments in Central and Jap Europe.
Trudeau made the announcement alongside Defence Minister Anita Anand, the Secretary-Basic of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, the Prime Minister of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, and the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez on Tuesday morning on the Ādaži Army Base in Latvia.
“Operations like ‘Operation Reassurance’ symbolize the easiest that NATO has to supply,” Canada’s defence minister Anita Anand stated.
Trudeau’s go to is a part of a number of European journeys for the PM to strategize with allies as fallout from Russia‘s invasion of Ukraine intensifies.
