United States International Agricultural Service Administrator Daniel Whitley arrived in Dubai Tuesday (Feb. 15, 2022) to launch the Division of Agriculture’s first commerce mission since November 2019.
Whitley is kicking off the commerce mission for Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who arrives in Dubai on Friday, with a delegation of representatives from U.S. agribusinesses, farm organizations, and state agriculture departments thinking about exploring export alternatives throughout the Center East.
Whitley says, “I’m thrilled that USDA commerce missions are again, and I’m honored to steer such a dynamic group of U.S. agribusinesses and representatives to the UAE.”
With annual agricultural exports averaging greater than $1.2 billion over the last 5 years, the US is the UAE’s fourth-largest provider of meals and farm merchandise and is poised for additional export development. Commerce mission contributors will have interaction immediately with potential prospects, obtain in-depth market briefings, and take part in website visits, together with Expo Dubai 2020.
