ZHANGJIAKOU, China (AFP) — Most cancers survivor Max Parrot of Canada capped a exceptional comeback on Monday when he received gold within the males’s snowboard slopestyle on the Beijing Olympics.
Parrot, who stated chemotherapy left him “at zero %” when he was identified with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2018, beat Chinese language house favorite Su Yiming to win gold with a rating of 90.96.
The Canadian took the lead on the second run and held on regardless of a tenacious problem from Su, whose high-flying antics thrilled the small however enthusiastic crowd at Genting Snow Park.
Parrot, the silver medallist on the 2018 Pyeongchang Video games, wrapped himself in a Canadian flag and held his board aloft in celebration after the end result was confirmed.
The 17-year-old Su claimed silver on 88.70 factors, giving China its first ever medal in males’s snowboarding.
One other Canadian, Mark McMorris, took the bronze with 88.53 factors, edging out American defending champion Crimson Gerard on his last run.
